Ciudad Perdida: Day 5

2 October 2011

Day 5, our last day, we had to cover the path we took on Day 1 and Day 2 straight in one day. So as usual, we started to walk about 7 in the morning.
I think Day 5 was the hardest day. We had to do the long climbing up way which felt endless. I didn't remember we took this long inclined way (climbing down) in Day 1 and 2.
We took a short rest in Day 1 camp, where our guide provided watermelon and biscuits.
Finally we arrived at the starting point around 3 or 4pm, where our delicious lunch was waiting.
Everybody celebrated the victory with a promise to gather that night at La Brisa Loca hostel in Santa Marta.
What a nice and memorable trekking!

Ciudad Perdida: Day 4

1 October 2011

This day was the day we would arrive in the Lost City of Teyuna, the main destination of this trekking, so everyone was excited when we started the trek in the morning. It was supposed to be 1 hour trekking to the Lost City.
Finishing the breakfast, our group started the earliest the walking than other group in order to be in the Lost City first by our own.
After 20 minutes walk, we arrived at a river crossing, then we were at the bottom of the long steep stairs (they said there was 20,000 steps) to the Lost City.
We started to climbing the steps to the City, quite tiring and felt so long.
Finally we arrived at the first stage of the City.
Our guide Ali explained a bit about the City.
Then we explored the City, and arrived at the picturesque open part of the City, surrounded by beautiful mountains.
We took a rest the upper part, looking down at the famous view of the Lost City, listening to Ali more explanation on the Lost City and many things, while chewing a lollipop.
About 11pm, we started to climb down back to the camp.
I took a cool off river dip alone near the camp, then headed to the camp, happily found our group's lunch was ready, while other groups's not.
At about 1:30pm, we continued our walk to the fourth night camp, the same came as the second night.
It was raining hard most the time, made it slippery and hard to walk, but the good thing that it was cool. The path we took, many became water streams.
About 5pm, finally we arrived at the camp.
After the dinner, we celebrated our achievement with champagne.
Thanks to the guides and fellow trekkers for the achievement!
